Trim and boyishly handsome, Sergey Brin doesn’t appear like a successful entrepreneur, more so not a co-founder of a billion dollar company. To those who don’t know him, Brin is the co-founder of Google, one of the largest internet companies of today. He met business partner Larry Page in Stanford as a graduate student, and since then, the two of them have been creating products and services for people from different backgrounds.
But before Brin lived the life of a rich and successful entrepreneur, he was first a young Russian immigrant finding his way in a foreign country. The story of Sergey Brin began in Moscow, where he was born to Jewish parents. Brin only moved to America with his family at the age of six. His parents, especially his father, felt that Communist Party heads barred Jews from upper professional ranks. A family of academic professionals, Brin’s best option, his father believed, was to start anew in a free land, America.

Their decision was right. The young Sergey displayed increased aptitude for learning during his youth in America, where he received equal opportunities for education. He pursued a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Maryland, and later on a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford. Although he never finished his Ph.D., Brin did make over $16.7 million dollars by tirelessly working on Google in a garage.
It has only been eight years since Brin created Google with Page, but the Silicon Valley startup is now considered the world’s largest media corporation. Through his contributions to this revolutionary innovation, Brin granted everyone access to an immeasurable amount of information. His company also recently launched the Facebook rival, Google +. Although admittedly not a very social person himself, Brin believes that Google+ is more compelling because of the different ways it allows people to share content.
A noteworthy individual in the field of entrepreneurship and technology, Brin is still at the peak of his career.
