Not many have heard of Susan Wojcicki. She was one of Google’s early employees being employee no. 18.  Today she is Senior Vice President of Ads. Susan was previously Vice President of Product Management handling AdWords and AdSense. These are the two main advertising products for Google which are also responsible for the majority of its profit.

She is known to be low-keyed and letting her team take credit for any major development. There is more to her though. It was Susan who came up with AdSense. AdWords placed advertisement on search result pages. AdSense brought Google advertising to the world’s websites and blog sites greatly expanding the company’s advertising market.

There is still more about her and Google’s early years.  After earning an MBA degree in 1988 Susan bought a house in Menlo Park, California. To help pay for the mortgage she rented her garage for $1,700 a month to two budding entrepreneurs from Stanford University-Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google got its start in her garage.

Working for a different company she eventually joined the then fledgling Google and contributed greatly in its early growing years. She is now leading Google’s venture into offline ads.

If this wasn’t enough her younger sister Anne married Sergey Brin.
