Feng Hailiang: Chinese Industrialist

Feng Hailiang who is in his mid-50s resides in Zhuji, China. Married with two children, Feng holds a Master of Business Administration for Zhejiang University. He is the chairman of Hailiang Group, which is a diversified group headquartered in Zhejiang Province.

The group’s Zhejiang Hailiang unit manufactures steel pipes and copper rods and trades on the Shenzhen stock exchange. Hailiang Group is also into copper smelting, real estate, education and cement.

The billionaire Feng’s business isn’t confined in China. Early in 2015 he forayed into the Australian property market. Through Hailiang Group Feng bought a large residential development site in Sydney’s inner southwest with plans for more purchased across the city. He paid $34 million for a 4,416 sq m site at 445-453 Canterbury Road in Campsie. His company plans to put up a $70.87 million mixed-used development on the property, taking in a minimum 200 units and commercial and retail spaces.

Feng is business savvy using capital raising and some new debt to finance the development of the site. The Hailiang Group which is one of China’s largest copper tubing and alloy manufacturers is also rumored to be eyeing the 180,000 ha Legune Station near Kununurra.
